Dr. Maria Esperanza Casullo - news - University of Richmond

This lecture focused on the main academic debates that took place around the phenomenon of populism as well as the political, social and economic developments that may have influenced populism both as a political phenomenon and as a field of the study during the year.

Our guest speaker this year is Maria Esperanza Casullo, Associate Professor at the Universidad Nacional de Río Negro, Argentina. Her research focuses on Latin American populism, Peronism and democratic theory. In 2019 she published the book Por Qué Funciona El Populismo? (Why does populism work?).
